Aanand L Rai and team voluntarily cut 13 minutes of Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan post focus group screenings

Over the last few months, Aanand L Rai and Raksha Bandhan team have hosted multiple focus group screenings for the industry insiders and the film met with a positive response. However, the team of this Akshay Kumar film also got some feedback, which has been graciously incorporated by the team. According to industry sources, the first cut of Raksha Bandhan was around 2 hours and 3 minutes long. "Based on some feedback, director Aanand L Rai cut short the film by 13 minutes to make it a breezy affair for today's audience. The audience consumption pattern has evolved in the pandemic and the attention span too has gone down by a margin. Keeping all the aspects in mind, the screenplay has been tightened for a better impact," informed an industry source to Bollywood Hungama. The source further said, "Picture Makkhan Ki Tarah Nikal Jaati Hai. It is a 1 hour 50 minute film that makes you smile, laugh, cry, and emotionally touches you towards the end. Basically, Aanand L Rai and the team will take the audience on a roller coaster ride of laughter and emotion," the source informed and promised that Raksha Bandhan will resonate with the audience in a big way from August 11. The insider reveals that Raksha Bandhan will be one of the career-best films for not just Aanand L Rai but also Akshay Kumar. "When makers are being careful to give a wholesome entertainment without much of loose ends to the audience, the result will always be in their favour," the insider assured. Raksha Bandhan will clash with Laal Singh Chaddha at the box office on August 11. The Aamir Khan film on the other hand is around 2 hours 44 minutes long.
