Mumbai: As come closer to the Sushant Singh Rajput case, A local court in Mumbai on Sunday placed Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda, who were arrested in connection with the drugs probe linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, in Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) custody till September 9.
Showik is brother of Rhea Chakraborty, who is the main accused in the death case, while Miranda was Rajput’s house manager.
The duo has been accused of allegedly procuring non-commercial quantity of marijuana/ ganja from a drug supplier at least 10-12 times between September 2019 and April this year.
As per the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, for non-commercial quantity, a person can get immunity from prosecution in lieu of volunteering for rehabilitation treatment. The NCB generally registers cases involving marijuana only when about 20 kg or more is involved. However, the NCB said it was probing if Showik and Samuel Miranda were part of a “network” involved in buying and selling of marijuana to Bollywood.
Both Showik and Miranda were arrested on Friday under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after over over 10 hours of questioning. Besides them, the NCB has also arrested Zaid Vilatra (21) and Abdel Basit Parihar (23) who are already in the agency’s custody. The two on Saturday applied for bail.
Meanwhile, a CBI team on Saturday visited Rajput’s flat in Mumbai’s Bandra. “The probe team along with forensic experts reached the late actor’s flat in Mont Blanc Apartments around 11.30 am,” an official told PTI. Rajput’s cooks Neeraj and Keshav, and his flatmate, Siddharth Pithani, accompanied the team, the official said.
